Mainly used when there are a lot of difficult types of material that may clog a standard pump impeller.
Grinder pumps are essential in wastewater management, grinding sewage and solids into a fine slurry for easy pumping through pressure sewer systems. Unlike sump pumps or effluent pumps, grinder pumps use cutting teeth on the impeller to handle tough waste materials, enabling smaller discharge piping and flexible installation locations.
There are two types of grinder pumps, semi-positive displacement and centrifugal. Grinder pumps are a type of submersible sewage (septic) pump that has cutting teeth incorporated onto the impeller to grind the sewage for pressure sewer applications. The discharge piping can be smaller since the wastewater is ground up to a liquid, high head conditions are a specific use for this design of pump.
