Here at PumpMan Socal, we’ve called Los Angeles home since 1977. This year, we’ll be ringing in our 36th New Year in wonderful Southern California. But in all that time, this area has lacked a central New Year’s Eve celebration. This year, city officials hope to change all that.

In a recent story in the Los Angeles Times, they detailed the new plan that many hope will become a new Los Angeles tradition. This year, the festivities will be held in Grand Park, near the heart of the city’s civic center. Planners are hoping to build on the success of the Fourth of July celebration held there earlier this year, which drew 10,000 revelers.

Instead of a ball drop or other similar symbol, attendees will be able to watch a digital countdown displayed on the side of L.A. City Hall. The event will highlight local artists and feature art installations, music, and food trucks. Attendees can also look forward to some traditionally mild weather, with temperatures expected to stay above 50 degrees for most of the night.

As pump service technicians, we service all areas of Southern California. Calling Los Angeles our home, we know how sprawling the area is and appreciate the difficulty of planning a central New Year’s celebration. We hope the event planners get the high turnout they want and that we finally get a New Year’s Eve tradition in L.A.

No matter what your plans are for tonight, we wish all of you a wonderful time this New Year’s Eve. And when the celebrations are over, we hope that all of you have a happy and healthy 2014.
